Researcher, writer and editor Karen Bijkersma (pron. Bickers-mar) is the author of two published books, “Best Ever Baby Tips” and “The Book Every Woman Needs to Read: women speak out about gendered domestic violence – 28 stories of survival.”
Karen presented “The Pink Tax” at Skepticon 2025 was keynote speaker of Surf Coast Skepticamp 2025 with “Reading Between the Lies: Applied Rhetoric in Men’s Dating Profiles”.
Karen also delivered a series of skeptical, feminist talks and podcasts in Melbourne and Sydney during 2025 including “The Heartbreak Industry,” which has broken viewing records on the Skeptics Café Facebook page.
Now Karen is indulging her inner word nerd for her talk at Skepticamp 2026 with her exposé of Mountweazels— fictitious entries and copyright traps.
